The Tony Woods Project recently returned from its second hugely successful “Wind Shadows” tour. The band headed down to Devon and Cornwall during the second week of February where it astounded audiences, prompted a radio interview and airplay and culminated in a standing ovation at a jam-packed Birmingham Symphony Hall Foyer.

Having completed its highly successful Jazz Services Tour in October 2009, the Tony Woods Project will be on the road again early 2010 to bring its music to, primarily, the South West. The TWP is kicking off its second Wind Shadows tour in Appledore in Devon. From here the band will be heading further south to grace Cornwall with its mighty presence before heading up to Birmingham Symphony Hall Foyer on 12th February, and later, to Colchester Arts Centre.
The band is guarnteed to continue attracting great reviews and much deserved attention as the promotion of its exquistite and well-received 3rd album continues. The dates of the Wind Shadows Tour 2010 are listed on the gig page.
New Album – Wind Shadows released June 2009.
The Project has just released their third album ‘Wind Shadows’ on the 33 Records label, and the 2009 Jazz Services Tour will feature the music from this album: melodic, folk inspired, quirky and uplifting compositions from Tony and exciting solos from the whole band. One feature of the music is the way collective improvisations (reminiscent of early forms of jazz where the instrumentalists weaved their lines around each other) are incorporated into bigger structures. The band features Mike Outram on guitar, Milo Fell on drums, Robert Millett on vibes, marimba and gongs and Andy Hamill on bass and harmonica, all of whom play with wonderful group empathy and respect for each other and the music.
